The gem hunting is pretty much subject to luck. So, use to upgrade self/companions and use for rune weapons/upgrades sound like the best uses.ġ. Is the hidden mine the only place to upgrade a rune weapon? On an earlier attempt I did find a rune sword after defeating a small Noldor patrol, but I was really lacking in that playthrough and started new. So, how long did it take to get that many qualis gems? I gathered the two you can get from locations, but the named npc's seem a tough nut to crack on my own.I'm 30th level and just past a year in with army size about 145. Another 4 qualis gems to unlock the hidden mine and upgrade my weapons to sapphire strange rune bow / sapphire 2-handed strange rune sword, which turns me into a killing machine farming minimum 40 kills per battle.
